Adventurer is a 48′ Cherubini schooner that lives here at Port Annapolis.
She is owned by Art Birney who is one of the owners of Port Annapolis and a board member of the Sailing Hall of Fame. Southbound has made many improvements on her to improve sail handling, safety and speed. In 2010 she won her class in the Great Schooner Race, a race from Baltimore to Norfolk down the Chesapeake Bay.
Main halyard and reef lines were lead to a new Lewmar electric winch on the cabin top. Harken stainless blocks and deck organizer complemented the custom teak mounting blocks used to properly align the lines for a fair lead to the winch. We altered the dodger for a perfect custom fit.
A Forte carbon fiber spinnaker pole was installed on a new 2:1 inboard end control allowing the pole to be mast stores for easy deployment. Adventurer is not shy about flying her colors in heavy air. Last year she destroyed her spinnaker and a new replacement sail has sense been supplied.
